Beni Ourain rugs have become a sensation over the past couple of years. Even though they have been around for centuries, Morocco seems to have been hiding this gem until someone decided to bring them into the public.
I was interested in seeing what pure organic wools could do for my life, so I decided to buy one. To sum it up, Beni Ourain carpets have changed my life for the better. Here is my brief review of a Beni Ourain rug and why you should invest in one:

Beni Ourain rugs are unlike anything I had ever seen before. They were unique: not in the sense that they were weird to look at or anything. The two rugs I ordered were extremely beautiful. Although they were not printed, they looked very aesthetically pleasing.
Here are a few things that I noticed about these Beni Ourain rugs that I ordered:
1- Hand-knotted rugs
Everyone knows that hand-knit rugs and clothes are the best pieces of fabric for a wide variety of reasons. Hand-knit stuff lasts considerably more than processed stuff, and because how they are implemented, are considerably easier to clean.
- Beni Ourain rugs are hand-knit by the women of the Middle Atlas Mountain ranges.
- These women have become extremely potent in their hand-knitting skills because this is their main source of income.
- You can only expect the highest-quality rugs if you buy an authentic Beni Ourain rug.
2- Not cheap, but not very expensive either
Authentic Beni Ourain rugs are not very cheap, mainly because they are hand-knit like we explained before. Because it can sometimes take more than 100 hours to knit a rug, especially one that contains unique designs, the price of the rug makes sense.
The other factors that contributed to the price I paid were the customs and the shipping fees due to the big size and weight of the rug. Unless you live in Morocco, you will, unfortunately, have to pay these dues.
3- They are multi-purpose
Beni Ourain rugs are made up of pure, best-quality wool. Because of this high quality of wool, they are very good at insulating the house as well.
The area I live in gets cold really easily, especially during the night. Getting this rug has helped me insulate the floors of my house. Now I don’t have to worry about wearing sandals or flops inside my house.
Other than that, since these rugs are really fluffy, my legs find it extremely soothing and comfortable to walk around in them. I don’t think I can go back to the hardwood floor anymore.
4- Easy to wash
Beni Ourain rugs are very easy to wash and barely take any sort of effort. I gave them to the dry cleaner, and they were really happy to clean it too.
